President Abdulla Yameen Abdul Gayoom has said that there is no benefit for investors if there is no security for them and their wealth.
President Yameen made this remark speaking at the ceremony held to inaugurate the Road Development Project of Laamu atoll.
The inauguration ceremony was held at 08:45pm on Monday evening at Laamu Fonadhoo.
Upon their arrival at Kahdhoo airport this afternoon, President Abdulla Yameen Abdul Gayoom and First Lady Fathimath Ibrahim received a very warm welcome.
During the speech, the President said that the road developed between Laamu Gan and Fonadhoo will bring economic progress and development to the atoll.
He said that airports, roads and harbours should be developed to bring economic development. He expressed hopes that the road developed between the two islands will also bring prosperity to the youth. He said that this will help them in their transport to goto their offices.
President Yameen said that Laamu Atoll is a big atoll which has been granted projects from the SEZ projects. Therefore, it is important that security is ensured when such projects are inaugurated.
The President requested all to cooperate with one another in providing a safe and secure environment for investors. He said that the rest will be taken care of by the government.
He said that ensuring peace and security in the islands and protecting the rights of the people is from the goals of the government. He said that every individual’s rights will be protected as long as they do not violate the rights of others.
The President reiterated that despite Government efforts to secure economic and urban development, instability within the society could hinder the nation’s progress.
