The government has decided to send back the foreign navy vessels producing and supplying water to help relieve the difficulties faced by the people living in Male’ City following the fire in the only desalination plant in the island.
Defence Minister Mohamed Nazim said that the task force decided to send back the navy vessels as there is a big development to the water crisis.
He said that the government has also decided to stop distributing water at distributing points in Male’.
Water bottles were distributed at 27 points in the capital Male’.
The distribution points were West Park, Tayyibah Mosque, Social Center, Villingili Ferry Terminal, Customs, Sonee Building, near MIFCO, Local Market 1, Fantasy Store, Ihsan Shop, Sultan Park, Zikra Mosque, Salahudin Mosque, National University Campus, Villa College, Imadudin Mosque, Heenamage, Galolhu Stadium, Stelco, Children’s Park, Fishemen’s Park, Nadhi, Henveiru Stadium, Artificial Beach and Senahiya.
MWSC has started 24 hour water distribution for the first time since last Thursday for testing purposes.
Despite this, water will be distributed 24 hours from Villimale’ Ferry terminal area, MPL harbor area until the water crisis is resolved.
