MP for Hulhuhenveiru constituency, “Reeko” Moosa Manik has said that fighting and causing commotion is not from the moral principles of Islam during emergency situation.
Speaking at the yesterday’s sitting of the Peoples’ Majlis, Moosa Manik said that the people should instead remain in constant supplication to Allah and should remain patient.
“We - as Muslims - have a disciplined set of traditions when dealing with instances of water shortage; and that going on protests, fighting and causing commotion are not the right ways,” he said.
Instead, he insisted on adhering to the Islamic customs: to remain patient and vigilant, while praying for good fortune.
His appeal comes amid the series of the protests conducted by MDP members over the past two nights, in which they voiced their outrage on the water shortage situation.
