The navy ship from India, INS Deepak has produced an additional 400 tonnes of water to assist the people living in Male’ amidst the water crisis caused due to a fire in the only desalination plant in the island.
Miadhu Daily understands that the water was supplied to Male’ using special boats as the INS Deepak could not dock near the jetty.
INS Deepak has donated 1250 tonnes of water previously.
India stated that the military vessel will remain in Maldives until the water crisis is resolved.
