Majlis Passes MVR 24.3 billion State Budget with 60 votes in favour

The People’s Majlis has passed the Committee Report on the projected State Budget for 2015 was passed by Majlis with 60 votes in favour.

The MVR 24.3 billion state budget was passed at the Twenty Fourth Sitting of the Third Session of the Peoples’ Majlis.

There were 19 votes against, and no abstentions. This includes many of the opposition MDP members.

The projected State Budget for 2015 was reviewed by the Budget Committee, comprised of Members of the Public Accounts Committee and Committee on Economic Affairs in accordance with Article 179 (d) of the Regulation Governing the Proceedings of the People’s Majlis.

The Committee received the projected State Budget for 2015 for review on 4 November 2014, and the completed Committee Report was sent to the Majlis floor on 03 December 2014, at Twenty Second Sitting of the Third Session. It was presented to the Majlis floor by the Chair of Budget Committee, Ahmed Nihan Hussein Manik, MP for Villimalé.
